Daily Schedule

 

  1. List of where we went

Sunday-

Monday- went to the Plaza Mayor, went and saw the presidential palace, visited a XVII century church, downtown lima, lastly went to Pardos Chicken resteraunt for dinner

 

Tuesday- we went to some ancient ruins in the sacred valley. then went to city called ottatyambo, and shopped around for a bit.

Wednesday- we had to fly to cusco today, then we took a tour of some ruins in a spaniard building. finally we took a tour of a very old church that was huge. it was in the plaza meyor.

Thursday- today we went to the ancient ruins of machu picchu. they are high in the andes.

Friday- we climbed wayna picchu this morning. then we went to the inca bridge, finally we climbed to the temple of the sun. we also had some time to hang out in the machu picchu rins.

Saturday- i was sick in the morning. later that night we went to a nice resteraunt.

2. Something we learned that we didn’t know before

Sunday-

Monday- that lima was built to hold 4 million people, but there are 8. Peru has been at war with Chile and Ecuador. Their main export is minerals

Tuesday- i learned that the spaniards tried to wipe out everything the incans built and left behind. they tried covering it with plaster.

Wednesday- i learned that the incans did not use horses or anything to carry the stones over a distance of 10 kilometers. they used man power.

Thursday- nobody knows the real name of ruins, they just go by machu picchu. the incas built an observatory on the top wayna picchu.

Friday- i learned that machu picchu means (old mountain). wayna picchu means (young mountain).

Saturday- i finally learned how determined the peruvians were to sell their products.

  1. Some exchange we had with a native in that day

Sunday-

Monday- i had to buy a bottled water from a street vendor, it was a little old lady. all i had to say to her was un agua(water) an cuanto(how much) it costs 1.50 soles. thats less than one us dollar.

Tuesday- A little boy tried to sell me some finger puppets. i said no gracias which means no thanks.

Wednesday- i had to buy a photo album for my mom an the lady wanted 30 soles and i was able to talk her down to only 20.

Thursday- turning down the natives from their gifts.

Friday- cashing travelers checks to get soles

Saturday- i bought an alpaca sweatshirt that was supposed to be 75 soles, but i got it for 50.

  1. Something we learned about the people of that country that day

Sunday-

Monday- they are very proud of the soccer players that came out of their country.

Tuesday- Most of the people in the city of Cusco are poor. They love their history of the Incans. Many of the people still wear the traditional clothing.

Wednesday- the team here in cusco is very important to the people. the team just recently beat a very good team from argentina.

Thursday- they are very good at driving a bus up a mountain. they have never been in an accident. they are super prowd that their country is home to the ancient ruins of machu picchu.

Friday- they are super good guides at climbing wayna picchu. they make sure that nobody is left behind.

Saturday- they are willing to do anything to sell their products.

5. Something we learned about ourselves that day

 

Sunday-

Monday- i was able to talk to people at the market with surprisingly good spanish. i understood most of what they said.

Tuesday- Able to barter for things with some of the native people.

Wednesday- i was able to tell a cab driver were we had to go to play a soccer game with some of the natives of cusco.

Thursday- i was very interested about the ruins.

Friday- i was not bothered as much as i thought with the heights.

Saturday- i can get better after a good nap.
